Green Pavement makes Electricity

Paving slabs that convert energy from people's footsteps into electricity are set to help power Europe's largest urban mall, at the 2012 London Olympics site.

The recycled rubber "PaveGen" paving slabs harvest kinetic energy from the impact of people stepping on them and instantly deliver tiny bursts of electricity to nearby appliances. The slabs can also store energy for up to three days in an on-board battery, according to its creator.

See through catalog Model's clothing - Moosejaw X-Ray App

This is an Augmented reality App which uses your mobile device's camera and some augmented reality trickery to grant you X-ray vision, as you scan both female and male models' bodies in the catalog. All you have to do is position your device over the catalog pages (MooseJaw's Catalogue tho ).  Source: Gizmag

Fly like Iron Man with Flyboard

"This ingenious and deceptively simple device bolts on to the powerful motor of a jet ski, then routes the resulting water jet through a long hose that connects to a pair of jet boots and hand-held stabilizers. The arrangement lets you fly, Iron Man style, up to 9 meters in the air - or leap headfirst through the waves like a human dolphin. The best part? You can buy it for under 5000 Euro (US$6700). That is, once Franky digs his way out from under the avalanche of orders he's going to come home to." - Gizmag

Free iPhone games (good games)

These are some of the apps I have played and enjoy. I didn't have much time to elaborate on the apps but there are links to the game-play of each app below it's description. Trust me, all these apps are really good(to me anyway). Enjoy

If you do not have Angry Birds Rio, you are on a long thing. I prefer Angry birds Rio to the classic Angry Birds (i think that's what it's called) .
Super cool game.

Fruit Ninja

5 star game. Fun! Must have. After playing this free version, you would probably want to buy the full game.

How Much Energy Do Your Home Appliances Use? VISIUALISATION

With this data visualisation tool, you can see how much power each of your appliances use. You can also see how much it costs ($) and how much it consumes in gallons of gas.

Clicking on various appliances turns them on or off. An overall energy consumption rate is calculated in the lower right corner of the tool.

A hair dryer uses more power than a room air conditioner. O_o

Nice Advert for Nissan Leaf Electric car

Electric cars are a  great idea, but how is the electricity produced?
I believe electricity production would be a lot cleaner in the near future anyway.

Solar Hand-Bag. Charges your phone during the day

Unlike most solar hand-bags and backpacks, this one doesn't look that bad.

The Solar Handbag from Diffus, a Danish design studio, integrates 100 "solar sequins" in a pattern that ladies may actually find socially acceptable, perhaps even attractive. During the day, the bag is capable of generating 2 watts of power, enough to charge many portable gadgets. After the sun sets, however, any leftover energy is redirected to a set of optical fibers, which glow whenever you open the bag to search for mascara, ABC gum stuffed in crumbled receipts, or whatever else you've decided may never leave your side. There's no word on whether the bag will actually come to market, but if it does go to production, it may just end up being affordable, given that many handbag budgets far exceed the amount we set aside for gadgets. -Engadget

Funky-Music Apps (Must have!)

  • The  first music app I'm going to briefly talk about is iAmBeatbox. This app is too cool. You can make sick beats with this thing just by moving the 'gems' around the grid. It's a lot of fun. Let this video demonstrate a little.

Anime Artist based in Kaduna, Nigeria. (Ibrahim Idris.)

Cool Photo-editing Apps

In the next few days, I will be posting some cool apps you must should have on your phone. I use an iPhone btw. If you don't have an iPhone, don't lose hope yet, as you can find similar apps on your own platform(Most of the time) :-)

"ColorSplash is super easy and fun to use. You simply use your finger as a brush to remove or bring back the original color from regions of your image. Using a two finger pinching gesture you can quickly zoom in and out in order to work on fine details or larger areas."

This is was what I was able to do with the app.... B-)

It was free when i got it... Even if it costs anything now, It shouldn't be much. Try it!

17 year old student sells Kidney for iPad....

A 17 year old student from China, wanted an iPad so much that he sold one of his kidneys.
Apparently, he made a deal with a broker online and then, an arrangement was made, his kidney was removed and he got paid 20,000 Yuan(approximately $3000).
When his mother saw the iPad 2 she was surprised that he had one; due to the high cost in China. She then discovered the horror story and notified the authorities of how it all transpired.

iPhone's announces BBM Competittor "iMessage".

A new service from Apple called iMessage, that is pretty much identical to RIM’s BlackBerry Messenger client has been announced at its World Wide Developers Confrence. iMessage will let you send and receive text messages, photos, and contacts from other iOS users. Group messaging and read/unread/typing notifications (which are staples of BBM) can also be found in iMessage.

This could be really bad for RIM(Blcakberry) as the Blackberry Messenger is a massive selling point for the Blackeberry phone. Let's see how it goes.
Go Apple!

Find, Buy & Sell anything on DealFish Nigeria.

This is a very cool site. It's just like ebay.  You can search for products(new & old), events, courses, jobs... Any thing at all; as long as it is listed. You can post and sell your own product/services when you register or you could just window shop (It's actually fun).

The site was launched months ago in Nigeria although it has been also launched earlier in other African countries.

I really like the whole idea and the site itself. But make sure whoever you are dealing with is credible.

Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1- "The iPad 2 killer?"

Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1, the successor to the Samsung  Galaxy Tab, may be the worthy competitor to the Apple iPad2. I get excited when I see fierce competition. :D

I am an Apple fan-boy, but this might just change my mind.

This new tablet device, which will be released June 8th 2011(in the US), runs the Android 3.0 or 3.1. It is very responsive, very gorgeous, very thin and very light. Unlike the rest of the tablets out there, this seems to be of more quality and I am just excited about this product. Trust me, this will be big.

Solar Cooker in Africa. Amazing

I am crazy about solar energy and anything energy efficient. So this really got me hooked

It's so amazing how something so cheap, simple and natural can do what seems to be so complex in the developed world.
I think if more funds are spent on researching this cool Gadget, it could be the next big thing.

It's *energy efficient*
It's cheap to produce ( just cardboard, foil paper and ropes-I think)
Enjoy!

Tap That Moto!

Caught my attention, don't know about you. :D
(From Jesse McCartney's music video)
Nice concept for a phone. I think a few people would get it. I might O_o.
Apparently, according to cnet.co.uk , the Android software isn't perfectly proportioned to its size. That's a shame. But a nice looking phone still.

Multitoe floor - Cool

"The key factor of the shown design is that it is based on frustrated total internal reflection sensing. FTIR allows it to identify and track users based on their sole patterns. The floor recognizes foot postures, distinguishes users who interact from people walking by, and enables high-precision interaction. In addition, the floor can approximate users' head positions based on the pressure profile in the soles and it extracts enough details from soles to allow users to play first person shooters by balancing their feet."

This would be very useful for disabled(no arms) people. #justsaying

So Kikin is a very cool add-on for Firefox and Internet Explorer users. It makes browsing a lot more fun and quicker. Personally, I hate the boring old browsing experience but Kikin brings the light I need *heavenly Voices* . Using Kikin with 'Bing', is as perfect as Lady-Gaga and Beyonce :D. I will do a review on 'Bing' soon. Its getting really impressive. Anyway, the pictures above should be able to say a few things.
Try Kikin .
