"SolePower is another contraption that lets you charge your smartphone through a very basic action that everyone does at some point during the day: walk. Similar concepts have been proposed before, but a group is finally taking action and their proposed device is called SolePower. It’s dubbed as a “power-generating shoe” that allows the wearer to charge portable electronics like smartphones, MP3 players, and tablets as they walk.

Opengovernment Nigeria. Promising Initiative

As a Nigerian, I have no idea who is responisble for what in my state, talk more of the country. This means that I don't know who to blame or who to complain to. This is due to the fact that the political system in Nigeria is a bit blurry and probably congested.
Although Opengovernment Nigeria is still in its testing phase, I believe it has the potential to change Nigeria in a positive way.

Adewale Yusuf gives a nice description of the Opengovernemt online platform.

I think Google Glass is going to be amazing

The device can be controlled by voice and some other form of gesture control which I am not too sure of at the moment.

Urine powered Generator

Maker Faire Africa is an annual pan-African event which hosts a community of innovative 'makers' from around Africa. This year, in Lagos Nigeria, an unusual product was showcased which presumably attracted alot of attention; and I'm not surprised it did.

"A Urine powered generator created by 4 girls namely; Duro-Aina Adebola (14), Akindele Abiola (14), Faleke Oluwatoyin (14) and Bello Eniola (15).  

1 Liter of urine gives you 6 hours of electricity.

Nigerian Builds Car Using Locally Sourced Parts

Engineer Okpere built a car using locally sourced parts! He could be Nigeria's own Henry Ford if he is rightly supported. Nigerians are hard working people but we hardly invest our talents and thoughts in positive things. We thank God for people like Engineer Okpere. I hope he gets what he needs to be able to build a successful industry.

Electric 'Whill' for manual wheelchairs

A team of Japanese inventors have created a device which transforms a manual wheelchair into an electric mobility device that can reach speeds up to 20km/h powered by a lithium battery.

The device (Whill) just needs to be clamped to an existing wheelchair to get it get it started.

The Whill uses intuitive manoeuvring gestures. For example, by applying force to certain areas of the control panel(situated in front of the user), you can slow down or speed up the device.
